A short stay in Devon

I have been meaning to write about my short trip to Devon since November. We escaped work, the phone calls and the new house that needed loads of jobs doing. We just felt we needed to escape for a few days, so we packed up our things and headed away for 2 nights to Salcombe Harbour Hotel and Spa in the very picturesque Devon.

The views took your breath away. Everywhere we went and every corner we went around surprised us with views that were even more impressive than the last. Just taking the time to take in the views made me stop and think, to breath, and to take in the surroundings.

We set off early for the journey to get there because it was a 5 hour drive. We arrived at lunch time and we settled into our hotel room and had a stroll through town, it was lovely. We called at a cute little cafe for a late breakfast. We walked around the town and went in a few shops before going on a walk along the cove. The views were incredible, it was November 1st and the weather was amazing, it was so hot it was like Summer. We walked for a couple of hours before heading back to the hotel for a swim in the spa pool. We snuggled up in our robes and the very big slippers ready for a lovely swim. Then we headed back to the hotel room to get dressed for dinner.

The next morning the weather was lovely we headed down for breakfast. It was so nice that we sat outside and took in the views before heading to a little village called Hope Cove. We walked along the beach and then along the cove. After a couple of hours we made our way to the local pub for a drink. We then headed back to the hotel to take the small ferry boat, that fit about 12 people in, over to the other side of the estuary and gazed back before returning for an evening swim followed by cocktails and delicious food.

The following morning was the day we were going home. We took a detour to Dartmouth on the way, but the weather couldn’t compare to the glorious sun we’d had for the previous days. We grabbed some food ready for the long drive home.

We really enjoyed just getting away from work and spending some time together. We will definitely be heading back to this beautiful place this year.
